CALAMBA CITY-Residents of a middle-class subdivision here never imagined that the boy they called "Beinte kuwatro oras junior." (24 hours jr.) was actually a kidnap victim.
The owner of a sari-sari store beside the three-bedroom bungalow where police rescued the kidnap victim on Tuesday said residents of the Pamana Homes subdivision in Barangay Bucal were frequently roused from their sleep by the loud wailing of the two-year-old boy, the son of a Chinese-Filipino businessman who was kidnapped on Dec. 2 in Muntinlupa City.
"The boy would cry almost the entire day. That's why we called him `24 hours jr.' But they were always keeping him inside the room. His crying was really loud," the storeowner, who requested anonymity, said in Filipino.
They called the kidnapped toddler "junior" because a three-year-old daughter of his "caretaker," Wyte Patrana, also annoyed the residents with her irritating crying.
She said several residents had complained about the noise that the toddlers were making but Patrana would always assure them that it would not happen again.
