(From Philippine Daily Inquirer)
DAVAO CITY-The number of college students who are going underground is increasing, according to the communist-led National Democratic Front in Mindanao.
In a phone interview with the Inquirer on Saturday, Jorge Madlos, NDF spokesperson for Mindanao, said that during the 35th-anniversary celebration on Friday of the Communist Party of the Philippines alone, at least 50 college students disclosed their intention to join the New People's Army.
He said most of the students, aged 18 to 24, were from this city and Cagayan de Oro.
Madlos said the students disagreed with the government's policies and that they were frustrated by the state of the country.
