MELBOURNE, Dec 26 Asia Pulse - Australian shoppers headed out early, as the country's retailers extended hours for the biggest trading day of the year.

In central Sydney, shoppers looking for a bargain began queuing at Grace Bros as early as five this morning.

Melbourne's two biggest department stores opened their doors from 7am (AEDT) to 9pm, in an unprecedented extension of Boxing Day trading hours.

A Myer Grace Bros spokesman said the company opened 32 stores Australia-wide, many with extended trading hours.

He said the tactic appeared to be working with more than 1.6 million shoppers expected to pass through …
