Although beverage sales in Western Europe have stagnated in recent years, Eastern Europe is poised to become the fastest growing beverage market in the world

According to a report recently published by the beverage industry consulting firm Zenith International, per capita beverage consumption in Eastern Europe should increase by 45 liters through 2007. That growth is attributable to several factors including growth in real household income, access to a wider variety of beverage products, and an increased willingness to experiment with new beverages. Beverages covered in the study include alcoholic drinks, dairy drinks, hot drinks, and soft drinks

In Eastern Europe and at the global level as well, bottled water is the fastest growing beverage in terms of volume sold. Over the next five years, the strongest growth regions for bottled water will be Eastern Europe and Russia. ...
