Over the past 12 months, commercial activity in Jordan has risen in excess of 10 percent. Much of the upsurge is attributable to the nation's new role as a supplier and transit point for goods designed for the reconstruction of Iraq
During the second half of 2003, growth in domestic exports from Jordan's Qualified Industrial Zones (QIZs) topped 60 percent year-on-year and healthy gains should persist through at least the first half of 2004. That, in turn, will contribute to double-digit growth in orders for industrial inputs for QIZs. Free market reforms and recent implementation of free trade agreements has contributed to an upsurge in equipment, materials, and services associated with construction and expansion of industrial facilities. Sales of such products and services should continue to rise at an annualized pace of about 10 percent throughout the remainder of this year
