In the past 12 months, vendors of low-cost, PC-based compositing and special effects software have introduced major new versions of their programs, all of which have brought impressive new capabilities to users working on a wide variety of projects ranging from corporate videos to feature-film productions.
There's a tendency to divide the compositing and special effects market into two segments consisting of high-end programs costing upwards of tens of thousands of dollars and low-end programs costing less than $5000.
