Five highly talented Bruneian artists were awarded the coveted Philip Morris Brunei Darusslam-Asean Art Awards 2003 at a colourful ceremony held at the Brunei Museum Art Gallery yesterday.

Sounding an artful note at the ceremony, the Guest of Honour, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs Dato Paduka Hj Abdul Rahman bin Hj Mohiddin said that artists despite their often wild visions, are after all only human, and often require much needed incentives and motivation to produce artworks that are of outstanding quality and significance.
