At the 2003 Summit for MTNA Leadership last September, the state presidents met to share ideas about membership recruitment and leadership training. Both Minnesota and Iowa hold annual retreats for state officers early in the year; topics similar to the national leadership meeting are discussed, and no official business is conducted. Both have found this to be a helpful gathering for sharing ideas and long-range planning for their state organizations. The state presidents have decided not to hold a formal meeting during the competition weekend in January.
