A female student at Columbus State University GA reported being raped at knifepoint near the main campus in September, but campus police recorded it as a "miscellaneous incident."

Although they immediately called the county sheriff's department, campus police failed to warn other students of the potential danger in a timely manner. Only after the woman's mother checked the police log did the rape get reported, leading to the public revelation of the attack.
