Author: Hong Kong's total port cargo throughput increased to 51.8 million tons in the third quarter, a 3 percent increase over the same period last year, according to the statistics released by the Census and Statistics Department on December 11. Within this total, inward port cargo rose 1 percent to 31.5 million tons, while outward port cargo rose 5 percent to 20.3 million tons. On a seasonally adjusted quarter-to-quarter comparison, total port cargo throughput was up 3 percent. Within this total, both inward and outward port cargo rose 3 percent.
