CHELMSFORD, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 11, 2003
Axis Communications, the global leader in the network video market, introduced today the AXIS Rack Solution, a 19-inch rack-mountable chassis that can hold up to 12 video server blades (48 channels) in a single equipment rack. The Rack Solution provides a higher density of analog video ports, saving rack space in server rooms and easily integrating analog cameras into IP-based surveillance systems. The rack is best used in large systems such as those typically found in airports, campus environments, hospitals or prisons.
The 3U (4.5 inches high) rack includes a built-in, replaceable power supply that feeds power to all of the video server blades. It can hold up to 12 interchangeable, hot-swappable video server blades, enabling the user to install or service the blades without disconnecting power to the entire system.
"With its high density of analog video ports, the AXIS Rack Solution enables our customers to save expensive equipment rack space and bridges the gap between existing analog camera systems and network video solutions," said Fredrik Nilsson, general manager of Axis Communications. "The AXIS Rack Solution's standard mounting and hot swappable blades make it easier to deploy network video solutions in installations with hundreds of cameras."
