MANATEE COUNTY -- School Board members approved attendance boundaries for a new elementary school Monday, chipping away at other schools that were either too well-off or too poor.
The plan shifted the boundaries of three other schools, making space at one school that is several hundred students over capacity.
When the new school on 69th Street East near Erie Road opens in August, it'll pull more than 400 students from Blackburn Elementary, a mostly white and high-income school, as well as 180 students expected to move into a partly subsidized apartment complex.
