Substance abusers are receiving fewer services, and have more unmet treatment needs today than 10 years ago, according to an article published in a recent issue of the Journal of Substance abuse.

However, researchers from the Research Triangle Institute in North Carolina say that even though services are declining, addicts are more likely to say that they are satisfied with what they have received, perhaps because "in the 1990s clients have found it difficult to gain access to treatment or services and are likely to value highly the services they do receive."
