Byline: Arrival of eight post-panamax boxships will be a 'big mouthful to swallow', writes Janet Porter in Dubai

UNITED Arab Shipping Co is keen to forge a deeper relationship with partner lines as it prepares to take delivery of its first post-panamax containerships.

The eight 6,800 teu vessels will virtually double UASC's fleet capacity from 73,000 teu to 130,000 teu by the end of 2008.

With other investments also planned, UASC wants to continue working alongside those lines with which it already co-operates to achieve an orderly introduction of the new tonnage and expand its network.
