ANAHEIM ANGELS IF Alfredo Amezaga looked lost at times at the plate last season (23 strikeouts in 105 at-bats), but he has been more selective in the Mexican winter league. His defense already is spectacular, and if he has a strong spring, he'll push for a job as a backup at shortstop and third base. BEST BASERUNNER: When he's healthy, there's no better Angel from first to second or first to third than SS David Eckstein. He has phenomenal instincts, superb technique and just enough quickness to get perfect jumps on hit-and-run singles. He also takes advantage of singles that die on Edison Field's soft outfield grass by taking an extra base.--Doug Miller
