GIVEN fairer scoring, the country's taekwondo jins will be kicking the opposition around in Vietnam.
"Our aim is to capture first place overall and we have what it takes to do that," said team manager Dr. Noli Gabriel.
"We're well prepared," Gabriel added of the 15-man taekwondo squad bidding to get back at host Vietnam, which dethroned the Filipinos as champions in Malaysia, 4 golds to 3.
Four aces
Spearheaded by four aces now seeking Olympic berths in a qualifying tournament in Paris, France, the taekwondo squad has undergone a long, hard buildup in anticipation of an all-out show by Vietnam in its own backyard.
"If the tournament has a good lineup of referees and the scoring is fair, I'm sure we're going to get first place again," Gabriel emphasized.
