FIELD officials of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources confiscated 15 flying foxes and 42 Asian box turtles from a market vendor in Bambang, Nueva Vizcaya in the DENR's ongoing campaign against the illegal wildlife trade.
Operatives of the DENR regional office in Cagayan Valley seized the endangered species from the vendor, whose name was withheld after she agreed to help environment officials track the source of the animals and their dealers.
Environment Secretary Elisea G. Gozun earlier ordered field operatives of the DENR to intensify the drive to protect and conserve the country's wildlife and their habitats.
