LEGAZPI CITY-At least 200 families, mostly with relatives who were victims of New People's Army (NPA) guerrillas, joined a rally led by the Kilusan Kontra Komunismo (KKK) on Friday at the Penaranda Park here, denouncing the abuse and killing of an army officer and several others.
"CPP-NPA salot sa bayan," "CPP-NPA perwisyo sa mamamayan" and "CPP-NPA demonyo," were written on their placards.
Lawyer Ricardo Nepomuceno, KKK president, said their rally aimed to condemn the inhumane acts of the communist rebels towards fellow Filipinos, including non-combatant military men.
In just two months, NPA rebels have killed three non-combatant military men, he said. One was a cook while the other was a member of the medical team based in the 901st Infantry Brigade based in Camp Villahermosa in Daraga, Albay, he added.
The recent victim was S/Sgt. Juanito Tandoc of the 22nd Infantry Battalion based in Tula-Tula, Ligao City, who he said was a member of a military medical mission team.
Tandoc was abducted on Wednesday last week in Barangay Mauraro in Guinobatan town and was killed later as confirmed by Gregorio "Ka Roger" Rosal, spokesperson of the Communist Party of the Philippines.
