Stimpson has left Tigers for Perpignan and goes with the best wishes of the club and a rousing send-off from the fans.

After a "fantastic" five-and-a-half years at Welford Road, in which he scored 1,718 points - 1,568 of them with his immaculate right boot - Stimpson was given a standing ovation by fans when he walked on to the pitch before the Newcastle Falcons game this month.

He had announced he was leaving two weeks earlier than expected because of registration rules for the Heineken Cup.

And it was an occasion that he will never forget.
