Jim Guest's column in September regarding the lawsuit being pursued by Suzuki has prompted some of your readers to write General Motors, blaming us for the lawsuit and vowing not to purchase GM products. We think and certainly hope this is an unintended consequence of your editorial, for while you are correct that GM is a minority shareholder of Suzuki, GM is not a party to the lawsuit, is not financing the lawsuit, and is not participating in or being consulted by Suzuki management regarding its prosecution.
