As a longtime Macintosh user, I feel that your evaluation of PC and Apple laptops in the September issue is not quite comparing apples to apples. While Apple laptops get less than stellar ratings in expansion, the reason is they come well equipped with an internal modem, Ethernet, and the like. If more hardware is needed, plug it into a USB or Firewire port.
You don't mention that newer Apple computers come AirPort ready; add an internal AirPort card and you can network wirelessly. Also, the iBook has S-video ...
