In Cooper City, Florida, high school stu dent Daniel Lennon, 18, was riding with a friend in the latter's car on April 25, 2002, when they witnessed a vehicle veer off the road and plunge into a canal. Lennon ran to the scene, dove into the canal, and swam to the SUV. which was sinking nose first in 15 feet of water. Using a tool he had brought with him, and then his fist, he was able to break through the window of the front passenger door. Reaching through, he pulled Shameeza Ishahak from the vehicle and swam her safely to the nearest bank of the canal. ...
