Convenience helps explain why online food and beverage sales are booming. They are expected to reach $3.7 billion this year, a rise of some 40 percent over 2002, according to Forrester Research, a firm that tracks online commerce. Convenience is also one reason why ordering food online or by catalog is particularly appealing at holiday time.
