Anti-riot police yesterday dispersed rioting students of Makerere University Business School - Nakawa.

The students were demanding payment of their living-out allowances. Each demands Shs 350,000.

They closed the Port Bell-Nakawa road for about three hours, barricading it with stones and logs, before lighting a bonfire, right in the centre of the road.

They however dispersed, upon seeing the heavily armed anti-riot police.

"Government must stop using draconian means to counter peaceful and innocent demands for our money," a fleeing student shouted.
