Is the Howard government conservative?(Politics)
JOHN HOWARD's detractors have taken to calling him the most conservative prime minister in Australia's history. No doubt they mean this as an insult. If only it were true. Howard has, in fact, continued the Labor-initiated process of undermining many of the institutions Australians treasure, federalism in particular. Indeed, the length of his tenure threatens to make his prime ministership more damaging to Australian federalism than that of Whitlam.
