SIR: Robert Murray's review (July-August 2003) of my Goodbye Bussamarai: The Mandadanji Land War, Southern Queensland 1842-1852 is fair and reasonable. I do not agree with some of his comments but that is as it should be.
By pointing out that Keith Windschuttle would possibly disagree with some of my conclusions, Murray hints at the "middle of the road" perspective that I tried to present. However, I am troubled by his comment that I showed greater sympathy to the Aborigines. This is close to accurate but it could be taken to mean that I had related preconceptions.
