SIR: In the July-August Quadrant Nell McDonald takes one Phillip Knightley as an authority for the allegation that the Pentagon murdered journalists in the recent Gulf War. Mr McDonald claims:
Phillip Knightley has concluded
that: "The Pentagon is
determined that there will be no
more reporting from the enemy
side, and that a few deaths
among correspondents who do
so [sic] will deter others. To
that end I believe that the
occasional shots fired at 'media
sites' are not accidental and that
war correspondents may now be
targets, some more than others."
