Communication Design/Design
Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. Qualifications: MFA in Design or related field. This position requires the understanding and ability to teach all aspects of design with emphasis on typography, digital media, web design, and publication and print production with Mac-based computer skills, design history, design theory, and professional practice. The applicant will augment faculty expertise in an on-going communication design curriculum. College teaching experience is desired. Candidates must show an ability to conduct creative research in design/communication design, such as technical papers, design projects, commercial projects that have received peer review or critical recognition. Candidates should be fluent and well versed in graphic design Macintosh based computer software such as Illustrator, Quark Xpress, Photo Shop, Page Maker, Dreamweaver, Net Objections Fusion, Flash, and Director. Duties include teaching courses in the undergraduate level communication design degree program, participation in program development of the communication design area, on-going creative research and professional design practice, and full participation in education, professional duties, and service activities within the School of Art and Design. Successful candidate must communicate effectively and work within a team concept. Deadline 1/16/04, or until filled, for position beginning 8/16/04. Art History, Tenure Track Assistant Professor.
Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience. Appt. date: August 16, 2004. Qualifications: Ph.D. in art history or related field (if doctorate is not completed by date of hire, a nine-month term appointment will be offered at the rank of Instructor). Record of, or potential for, substantial peer-reviewed research and publication. Area of research specialization open; however, Ancient, Asian, Contemporary, 18th/19thC, Islamic, Renaissance/Baroque, or Theory/Criticism particularly desired. Prior university-level teaching experience preferred. Duties: Teach upper-division courses in aesthetics, criticism, and area of specialization; share in teaching of--and supervision of graduate teaching assistants for--art history surveys (for art and design majors) and core curriculum art history/visual culture courses (for non-majors). Contribute through teaching, curriculum development, research, and service to comprehensive programs in art and design and to the undergraduate major and graduate certificate programs in art history.
