The University of California, Irvine is one of the fastest growing major universities in the nation. Founded in 1965, UCI is one of the nine campuses of the prestigious University of California system. It now ranks among the ten best public universities in America. Among other signs of distinction, UCI is the first public university with faculty receiving Nobel Prizes in two different fields--chemistry and physics--in the same year. It is located on a 1500-acre site three miles from the ocean in the affluent, highly educated community of Orange County approximately 40 miles south of Los Angeles.
The mission of the Graduate School of Management (GSM) at UC Irvine is to "create and disseminate knowledge about management and innovation in a technology-driven, global economy through excellence in research and teaching." The School is one of the top 50 business schools in America. It has an enrollment of approximately 825 students in graduate programs, including a Full-Time MBA program, three Executive MBA programs, and a Ph.D. program. The Full-Time MBA student population is of very high quality, ranking among the top 25 in the nation. GSM has an excellent, midsize faculty of 41 full time members and a staff of 82 employees; the authorized faculty size is 48 Faculty Teaching Equivalent (FTE). The university has aggressive plans to invest in the School over the next 5-10 years, to build a new minicampus for it, and to advance it to top-25 status among the nation's business schools.
A leader with energy and vision is sought to head up this challenging agenda.
