The University of Southern Maine (USM) seeks an energetic, broadly-experienced and creative individual to serve as Vice President of University Advancement and Planning reporting directly to the President. The VPAP oversees all advancement efforts, media relations, government relations, publications and university-wide planning. The Vice President also serves as Executive Director of the USM Foundation.

USM is the largest of seven Universities in the University of Maine System with 11,300 students on three campuses and offers degree programs ranging from Associate through JD and PhD. USM has recently completed a successful $22 million capital campaign. USM's mission is to achieve regional excellence through teaching, research and public service for the benefit of the citizens of Maine and society in general. Southern Maine is the fastest growing area in the State as well as a key economic and cultural center.

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree or commensurate experience preferred. Experience as an executive level administrator in a complex higher learning or management setting. Five or more years direct experience in external relations, particularly with demonstrated success in soliciting capital or major gifts and managing multiple constituencies and stake holder groups. Experience and skills in strategic planning for external relations, marketing, and development activities.
