The Office of the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs seeks an Assistant Vice President for Strategic Planning and Assessment to serve as a senior advisor to the Provost, to provide a high level of support for academic management, evaluation and planning at the University level, and to serve as liaison for the Provost with academic and administrative units in the development of strategic plans and assessment activities. Specific areas of responsibility will include the following:
* Planning -- oversight and coordination of School/College strategic plans, including the assessment component and advice and analysis of budgetary and fiseal issues relating to institutional policy, planning, and goal setting and contribute to the further refinement of the incentive-based budget model.
* Assessment -- leadership in the development of a campus Institutional Assessment Plan, working with a campus wide group of representatives from academic and administrative units. Leadership and coordination in the development of program review, general education assessment, and learning outcomes assessment to support the improvement of teaching and learning and strategic planning for academic and administrative units.
The successful applicant must possess a master's degree in an appropriate discipline (economics, planning, higher education administration, business administration, public administration); doctoral degree a plus; 3-5 years of experience in higher education administration, (experience in public research universities a plus) and a demonstrated record of accomplishment in planning, assessment, or other projects requiring the ability to work effectively across a wide range of offices with a variety of individuals. Also required is the ability to use information systems in administrative and research applications, research design, statistical analysis, systems design, and database management systems.
This position also requires the ability to manage projects independently and to provide the Provost with advice and direction in this important University activity. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required and a demonstrated ability to work with a wide variety of people at various levels of a diverse University.
