The Board of Trustees of Barry University invites nominations and applications for the position of President. The new President will assume office on July 1, 2004, following the retirement of Sister Jeanne O'Laughlin, OP, Ph.D., after 23 years of dedicated and distinguished service as Barry's fifth President.
Barry University is an independent, coeducational Catholic international university with its main campus in Miami Shores, Florida, and offering classes at sites from Tallahassee to Key West. Founded in 1940, the University is sponsored by the Dominican Sisters of Adrian, Michigan, and is governed by an independent, self-perpetuating Board of Trustees.
Barry University offers a comprehensive curriculum of over 60 undergraduate majors and select graduate degree programs including podiatric medicine and law. The student body consists of approximately 5600 undergraduates and 2800 graduate and first-professional degree seekers. Additional information about the university can be found at www.barry.edu.
Reporting to the Board of Trustees, the President serves as chief executive officer of the University and is responsible for enhancing and sustaining a University community that embodies Adrian Dominican values. The ideal candidate should be strongly committed to the Catholic and Adrian Dominican traditions in higher education and supportive of the University's mission of offering students a quality education, assuring a religious dimension, and providing community service and presence within a more caring environment.
