WASHINGTON -- The Institute of International Education (IIE) today released the latest data on Americans studying abroad from its annual Open Doors report on global student mobility, as well as findings from a new online survey of U.S. international educators on the current state of international student and study abroad enrollments. Open Doors 2003, which is made possible with financial support from the State Department's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, demonstrates significant growth in interest among U.S. students in studying abroad despite slowed growth in the number of foreign students seeking an American educational experience. The IIE online survey also shows that American students' interest in study abroad has continued to grow, despite some declines in foreign student enrollments at U.S. universities. Also discussed in today's briefing were recently released findings on international student enrollments from Open Doors 2003.
