German prosecutors said they were investigating three employees at a company that makes a non-dairy baby formula blamed for the death of three babies in Israel.

The company, Humana, admitted Tuesday that too little Vitamin B1 had been added to soya-based formula destined for the Israeli market, and blamed human error during production controls for the problem.

Apart from the three infants who are already known to have died, seven others were still in hospital on Tuesday, suffering from nerve and heart problems caused by Vitamin B1 deficiency.
