The growing incidence of diabetes in Vietnam has prompted the health sector to organize a conference on the matter for the first time, Deputy Health Minister, Le Ngoc Trong, told reporters yesterday.

The number of people suffering from diabetes in Vietnam is reported to increase by 2.3% each year and the figure is forecast to rise by 170% between now and 2013 unless active preventive measures are taken, said health experts at today conference, which is timed to fit in with World Diabetes Day on November 14.
