THE Prison Officers' Association was today discussing the prospect of fresh industrial action across jails in Northern Ireland with members after crunch talks with the Security Minister were branded "a waste of time".

Chairman Finlay Spratt accused Jane Kennedy of using yesterday's meeting as a "stalling tactic" to lift an overtime ban and the threat of a one-day strike which were both suspended on Tuesday.

Mr Spratt and a committee of officers' representatives were meeting this morning to discuss which steps will be taken next.
