Taipei, March 30, 2005 (CENS)--As the competition between Samsung Electronics and LG for mobile-phone market share grows more intensive, their orders to Taiwanese suppliers for light-emitting diodes (LEDs), the major backlight sources in the phones, have increased sharply. The orders have strained the supplies of DPI-type diodes at Formosa Epitaxy Inc. and ITO-type diodes at Epistar Corp. as well as production capacities at diode packaging houses like Lite-On Technology Corp. and Everlight Electronics Co., Ltd
