WALL, N.J., March 31 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- BIO-key International, Inc. (BULLETIN BOARD: BKYI) , the leader in finger-based biometric identification and wireless public safety solutions, has been awarded a contract to integrate Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) capabilities with its existing PacketCluster(R) Mobile(TM) product at the 911 Communications Center, Department of Emergency Services of York County, Pennsylvania.
As a result of the project the dispatchers in York County's 911 communications center as well as patrol supervisors in the field can map the positions of all police units and mobile assets. Through the use of Global Positioning System (GPS), dispatchers will be able to pinpoint vehicle location precisely, allowing them to make faster, more intelligent dispatch decisions, thereby increasing both the safety and effectiveness of the officers on the scene.
"BIO-key's PacketCluster is a powerful tool that we rely on to perform our public safety and law enforcement duties," said Antonio Flores, Information Services Administrator for York County's Department of Emergency Services, which has been a PacketCluster customer since 1997. "The addition of AVL to our system will significantly increase the safety of our officers," he concluded.
"We have an abiding commitment to protect our customer's technology investment by continuing to provide new features and capabilities to improve productivity and effectiveness," commented Mike DePasquale, CEO of BIO-key. "It is gratifying to help existing customers like York County leverage BIO-key technology to create an integrated security environment."
