Begum Sehba Musharraf on Friday stressed need for mainstreaming women in the country and ending gender disparity through uplifting their socio-economic and political status. She was speaking as chief guest at the inaugural ceremony of Women's Festival at Lok Virsa here. The event was jointly organised by the Ministry of Women Development, United Nations and 'SACH' (Struggle for Change), a non-governmental organisation, to mark the International Women's Day.

In her key note address she said there was a growing realisation among nations that no country could afford to ignore the pivotal role of women in the development process.
