The husband of jeweller Marian Bates, shot dead during a robbery at her shop, last night urged police to find the man who pulled the trigger as the killer's accomplice was found guilty of murder.
Peter Williams, 19, faces a life sentence after he helped the man who fired the fatal shot by brutally attacking the Mrs Bates' husband Victor with a crowbar at their store in Arnold, Nottingham. Mrs Bates was killed as she bravely tried to protect her daughter Xanthe from the gunman - believed to be serial offender James Brodie, who has never been found. Detectives believe he may have since been murdered.
