DANCING It kept me from sleep, just as I was drifting. I ignored it, then it happened again. A clattering loud on the corrugated iron roof of my neighbour's garage. Either a burglar inept in the night or something more interesting, so I got up and stood on my desk. Looked out the window. Beheld a marvel. A ring tailed possum and a cat, circling each other on the corrugations in the dark, wary, curious, sinuous. I can see the cat thinking: What is it? An ugly cat? Maybe it's food. Maybe I am.
