EDITORIAL / Iraq can't afford delay in political process

Sunday marks two years since the start of the Iraq war. During this time, the country has resembled a patient recovering from a serious disease. While having to ascend long and steep stairs, the patient, with shaky footsteps, has finally managed a few steps.

Iraq has formed an interim constitution, gained sovereignty and succeeded in holding an election for the provisional Iraqi National Assembly. These achievements should be praised.

But Iraq now looks to be having difficulties in climbing the next step.
