SARASOTA COUNTY -- Virginia "Ginny" Poyner pedals hundreds of miles a week on a bike despite persistent asthma and a muscle condition that requires an assortment of pills and injections.
Friends say she once broke her collar bone and has had a few other scrapes in a cycling career that has snaked around the world.
Poyner, 61, faces another comeback after she was struck and seriously injured Friday when a car veered into a bike lane on Lockwood Ridge Road and struck Poyner's wheels, authorities said. Poyner told a friend, Rebecca Meyer, that she'd broken a leg and may have fractured …
