Sunshine broke through grey skies as thousands turned out for St Patrick's Day celebrations in Belfast.

A sea of green filled the city centre yesterday from emerald cowboy hats and grass skirts to shamrocks and green and white jester hats.

As usual the children stole the day as they paraded through the streets in an array of creative costumes.

Youngsters from St Peter's Youth Club made a pretty picture decked out as leprechauns while kids from Tar Isteach community group in New Lodge walked alongside a giant giraffe and a massive pink elephant. Strands of the …
