Circuit: musiques contemporaines (formerly subtitled Revue nord-americaine de musique du XXe siecle; ISSN 1183-1693) is now published triannually starting with volume 11, number 1 (2000) by Les Presses de l'Universite de Montreal. It was published semiannually from volume 1, number 1 (1990) through 10, number 2 (1999). The journal features articles written in French or English (soon perhaps with English translations), and documentation about contemporary music (including electroacoustic) in Quebec, North America, and elsewhere. Each volume has a separate theme and its own ISBN. The journal's Web site at http://www.revuecircuit.ca/ has tables of contents for all volumes, abstracts in French and English, an author index, online ordering for individual volumes, and further details. Volumes 10, number 1 (1999) through 11, number 3 (2001) may also be accessed online (PDF) at http://www.erudit.org/revue/circuit/.
For subscription information, see the journal's Web site or a separate publisher Web site at http://www.pum.umontreal.ca/revues/circuit.html. Subscription: Julie Lebel, 300, de Maisonneuve Est, Montreal Quebec, H2X 3X6, Canada. E-mail: julie.lebel@smcq.qc.ca. C$87 (Canada, U.S.), C$114 (foreign) institutions; C$45, C$60 individuals; C$33, C$50 students; C$18 (Canada), C$22 (U.S.), C$28 (others) single volumes. Correct prices are at the journal's Web site, rather than the publisher's site, according to Circuit administrative director, Julie Lebel (e-mail message to Tracey Rudnick, 3 September 2004). Ms. Lebel adds that Circuit is currently offering libraries the complete collection from volumes 1 to 13 (twenty-seven issues) for free when subscribing to volumes 14 and 15. Beneficiaries are asked to contribute postal fees (ca. $35 for the U.S.).
CMJ New Music Report has changed its title to CMJ Alert starting with number 860 (12 April 2004). The latter was verified by Rebecca Koblick, Monographs and Serials Librarian, Rodgers & Hammerstein Archives of Recorded Sound, New York Public Library for the Performing Arts, in e-mail messages to Tracey Rudnick, 12 August, 28 September, and 12 November 2004.
The Galpin Society Journal 56 (June 2003) has changed formats, from the U.K.'s A5 to A4 (twice the size). This improves legibility, allows larger tables and color plates, and supports more articles without bulk and strain on binding.
General Music Today has ceased print publication and is continued electronically. See announcement located in this column's Electronica section.
The International Journal of Music Education (IJME, ISSN 0255-7614), published semiannually by the International Society for Music Education (ISME) from number 1 (May 1983) through 38 (2001), and annually from numbers 39 (2002) through 40 (2003), is now published by SAGE Publications triannually starting with volume 22, number 1 (April 2004) in both print and online formats. The newly applied numbering system is derived by grouping all previous years into annual volumes. Each journal issue has a particular focus: Research in April, Showcase in August, and Practice in December. In addition, ISME's short-lived annual, Music Education International (MEI, ISSN 1448-3238), recently announced in Notes 60, no. 3 (March 2004): 746, ceased with number 2 (2003). It was (in essence) absorbed by IJME's Practice issue. Further comments and subscription information appear in a separate review in this column.
