The Government of India's decision to permit competition from private airlines and opening up air connectivity to the overseas countries has resulted in reduction in international airfares from India. Myanmar Airlines has offered return tickets to Bangkok for Rs7,999. British Airways, Lufthansa, Singapore Airlines and Air India have reduced fares to various destinations in South-East Asia and Europe. The decrease in fares is a consequence of increased seat availability between India and the overseas countries.
