Abstract
This article describes a collaboration between a faculty librarian and an English professor to develop the information literacy skills of composition students in an online classroom. We adapted one aspect of traditional library bibliographic instruction to teach students how to use subscription databases in the virtual classroom using the chat feature of Blackboard. Discipline-specific faculty will need to collaborate with other faculty, including librarians, to discover the best resources and needed instruction for any given assignment.
