Abstract
The use of an electronic course management system such as Blackboard to supplement the face-to-face weekly classes typical of many graduate programs can enhance instruction. Blended courses allow students and instructors to communicate and exchange information more conveniently than is the case with either traditional classroom or traditional distance learning courses. However, drawbacks include the usual problems associated with any advanced technology; also, students and instructor (or both, for different reasons) may consider that the additional work involved outweighs the benefits offered by the system.
