Wellington, March 6 NZPA - Australian surfer Rhys Bombaci beat compatriot Blake Thornton in the final of the fourth event of the Billabong Pro-Teen Series at Raglan, west of Hamilton, today.

Victory was sweet for Bombaci, 19, who has previously appeared in three semifinals without pushing on.

Bombaci's win lifted him from ninth to fourth on the Australasian junior series ratings.

New Zealand's Kelly Clarkson finished second behind another Australian, Jessi Miley-Dyer, in Pro-Teen girls' event.

Gisborne's Bobby Hansen, eliminated by Thornton in the semifinals, finished the series as the highest …
