NEW DELHI, March 2 Asia Pulse - The issue of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in coal-mining sector needs to be looked at in great detail to address, among other things, various demands of the trade unions, Minister of State for Coal and Mines Dasari Narayana Rao said Tuesday.
"As far as the non-coal mining sector is concerned, FDI has been allowed up to 74 per cent and proposals worth Rs 45 billion (US$1.02 billion) received in this connection are being examined. But allowing FDI in the coal-mining sector needs to be looked at in great detail. Moreover, the issue of addressing the demands of the coal industry unions remains to be resolved," he said.
